How We Got Here

Pampered Tile Co. was founded on a simple idea: if proper care makes such a difference for our own mahjong tiles, it would likely benefit other mahjong enthusiasts as well. We thoughtfully curated the exact products and methods we use to safely and effectively clean and care for our tiles, packaged them into a super cute and convenient kit, and brought it to market. The rest, as they say, is history.

A Personal Note

Hi, I'm April, the mahjong-obsessed founder and primary operator of Pampered Tile Co.

I'm a proud boy mom with one son who is now married and another who is in college. I was born and raised in Arkansas and I still live here with my husband and our precious baby girl, Stella, a chocolate cavapoo.

I'm also a proud social worker, 21 years and counting, though launching a business has been an entirely new and exciting adventure. While I stand behind the quality of our products and our care method, I'm still learning the ins and outs of running an e-commerce business. I truly appreciate your patience and support as I continue to grow in this space.

Where It All Began

My mahjong journey began on Christmas Day 2025, when my sister-in-law introduced me to the game. Within just a few weeks, I was completely hooked, diving into everything from gameplay and rules to tiles, mats, racks, and accessories.

Along the way, I discovered a love for hosting and began voluntarily teaching mahjong to family, friends, friends of friends, family of friends, co-workers, and just about anyone interested in learning. Within only a few months, I had welcomed more than 40 new players to the game, often hosting lessons and gatherings in my home.

As I prepared my home for each game with a clean space, chilled drinks, tasty snacks, and a beautiful tablescape, I realized the true stars were the tiles themselves. Keeping my tiles in pristine condition quickly became a priority.

The Research Behind the Kit

With a natural attention to detail and a strong preference for cleanliness, I set out to find the best way to care for my tiles. I researched extensively, only to discover there was very little guidance available, and what guidance did exist varied widely.

What I found made one thing clear: mahjong tiles require gentle, intentional care. They should never be submerged, overexposed to water, or cleaned with harsh or questionable products.

Through trial, research, and experience with multiple tile sets, I quickly came to believe that all tiles regardless of price point deserve to be pampered. From that belief, the Mahjong Tile Care Kit was born. What started as a personal solution quickly evolved into a passion project and ultimately, a business.

Where We're Going

With encouragement and support from my husband, we took a leap of faith, founded Pampered Tile Co., sourced our products, and launched our brand.

As a new company offering a unique product, we're excited to share something we genuinely believe in and use ourselves on a regular basis.
